A personal motive is being eyed in the death of a probationer, who was gunned down in Purok Balinday, Barangay 2 in Bacolod City Thursday, P/Capt. Leo Estopa, Station 2 chief, said yesterday.

Estopa said Felix Olvidado, 23, of Purok Lampirong in the barangay, had just attended a complaint hearing at the barangay hall and was on his way home, about 300 meters away, when motorcycle-riding suspects shot him two times with an unknown caliber of firearm, and escaped.

Olvidado sustained two gunshot wounds and he was declared dead on arrival at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Estopa said the family of Olvidado believes that the barangay kagawad, who had earlier suspected him of snatching his belongings, had shot him.

He said they have no grounds to arrest the kagawad, whose name was not disclosed, because there are no witnesses and concrete evidences to support their claim. The kagawad could only be considered a person of interest, considering a previous misunderstanding between him and Olvidado.

Estopa said Olvidado had lodged a complaint at Station 2 on March 30, alleging that he was shot and his suspect was the kagawad.
It was on Thursday when Olvidado and the kagawad were called to the barangay for the first complaint hearing, Estopa said.

Olvidado was nabbed in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 2 in January last year and was freed after he availed of the plea bargaining agreement, Estopa said.*
