The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) presented its accomplishments for 2024 and also discussed new policies on program benefits and services, during a media forum at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City last Friday.
Janimhe Jalbuena, PhilHealth head of Public Affairs Unit, said they also discussed benefit expansions and updates on the implementation of the Universal Healthcare Law. They are expanding and increasing benefits to help their members.
“The recent program we expanded is the Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever wherein we used to provide a package of P16,000 per confinement which has now been increased to P47,000. Before, our breast cancer package was only P100,000 and now we are paying P1.4 million. Same is true with pneumonia, which is considered high risk, that has been increased from P32,000 to P90,100 per patient/confinement,” she said.
Jalbuena said PhilHealth is offering more and higher packages which also include benefits for their Konsulta program. They have also expanded their coverage for hemodialysis from 90 sessions to 156 sessions a year. The amount covered before was P2,600 which they expanded to P4,000 and the recent expansion is P6,350 per session. The patient is also guaranteed “no co-pay”, which means they are not required to pay additional on top of what PhilHealth is paying.*
