While dengue cases in Negros Occidental are on a downward trend, a total of 13 deaths were recorded by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) last year, from January to December 27.
Over the same period, the PHO logged 5,349 dengue cases, compared to 7,250 cases recorded in 2024, registering a reduction of 1,901 cases, which is equivalent to 26.22 percent.
The age group with the most dengue cases was from one to 10 years old.
All the 31 local government units in Negros Occidental were not spared by dengue cases, according to PHO reports.
Bago City topped the 10 LGUs with the most number of dengue cases with 1,140, La Carlota City – 479, Kabankalan City – 478, San Carlos City – 295, Isabela – 257, Silay City – 254, Cauayan – 198, Hinigaran – 165, La Castellana -156, and 151 in La Castellana.
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne viral infection causing flu-like symptoms such as high fever, severe headache (especially behind the eyes), joint/muscle pain, nausea, and a rash.*
