The Provincial Health Office recorded two suspected rabies deaths from January to March 15 this year in Negros Occidental.
Dr. Girlie Pinongan, the Provincial Health Officer, disclosed that the two victims are a minor and a senior citizen.
Pinongan said a 72-year-old victim, a resident of Hinobaan, had been bitten by a rabid dog three years ago, and eats dog meat, died during the weekend.
On the other hand, the 6-year-old male victim, a resident of Don Salvador Benedicto, also had a history of a dog bite, Pinongan further said.
To prevent rabies, the Department of Health (DOH) issued an advisory that those bitten should seek immediate medical attention.*
