PHO logs 8 more firecracker-related injuries

The Provincial Health Office has recorded eight more cases of firecracker-related injuries in Negros Occidental, bringing to 97 the total number of victims, as of January 4.

Of the victims, 89 were recorded in 23 local government units of Negros Occidental, and eight in highly urbanized Bacolod City.

The cities of Bago and Kabankalan have the most number of victims at 13 each, nine were logged in Hinigaran, and below 5 injuries recorded in 20 other component cities and municipalities of the province.

Most of the victims are male, with ages ranging from 11 to 20 years old.

The PHO reported that the majority, or 20 percent, of the firecracker-related injuries were caused by ‘triangulo’.*
