The Provincial Health Office reported that Isabela town remained on top of its list of areas with the most influenza-like illnesses (ILI), from January 1 to February 17 this year.
Of the 442 cases, PHO logged 307 cases in Isabela, 84 in Pontevedra, and 40 in San Carlos City, making them the top three LGUs in terms of ILI cases.
However, there were no deaths reported from ILI, the report added.
The age group with the most cases is between one to 10 years old.
The Department of Health (DOH) said that based on the historical data since 2009, influenza-like illness case increases coincide with the onset of the rainy and colder months.
“Hence, we are implementing strict monitoring of cases as we anticipate a rise in cases in the coming months,” it added.
Influenza-like illness is a nonspecific respiratory illness characterized by fever, fatigue, cough, and other symptoms that stop within a few days.*
