Crispy Piayita, known as the “Queen of the Crispy Piaya,” has recently moved to its new location at the ancestral house of former Congressman Raymundo Alejano Vargas, situated along Hernaez Street, directly across from the south side gate of Rizal Elementary School.
The opening was blessed by Fr. Ricky Boy Atillaga and attended by family, friends, and loyal patrons.
The business originally started in 1968 under the name Varmont at Bacolod Plaza Mart, where it operated as a refreshment shop, beauty parlor, and tailoring service.
In 1993, it relocated to its own building at the corner of San Juan and Luzuriaga streets, and by the early 2000s, it was rebranded as Bailon Foods.
Throughout the years, the piaya’s signature crispiness has been beloved by many, eventually leading to its renaming as Crispy Piayita.
In addition to its famous crispy piaya, the shop also offers another popular item, its empanadas.
Crispy Piayita is owned and managed by Ilog Councilor Mark John Vargas.*
