The San Carlos City government, in partnership with the Kiwanis International, held the 2nd Mayor Rene Gustilo Pintaflores Festival Duathlon and Amazing Race, on November 13.
Winners of Men’s Elite Category were James Montero, first place; Earl Leonila, second and Romulo Kalinas, third. They received cash prizes of P25,000, P15,000 and P10,000, respectively.
In the Women’s Open Category, the winners were Urika Duwalwayan, first; Juvy Myco, second and Stefanie Cadusale. They respectively received P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000 in cash.
In the 29-Below Category, first place finisher was Edgie Arances who received P5,000 in cash prize, followed by Clement John Vergara and Richard Rivera in second and third places, respectively. The two respectively received P3,000 and P2,000 in cash.
The winners in the 30-39 Category were Fernando Canorigo, first; Kikoy Javelosa, second and Peter Paul Liberal, third. They took home P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000 in cash, respectively.
Meanwhile, Edmar Balnasaca won the 40-Up Category followed by Ray Uyanan in the second place and Felimon Solitario, third. Respectively, they received P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000 in cash.
On the other hand, Marlene Serad and Mark Danoso were P20,000 richer when they prevailed in the Amazing Race. They were followed by Kikoy Javelosa and Dan Morancel in the second place who received P10,000 in cash, while third placers Mark Anthony Uberas and Christian Jan Rubrico earned P5,000 in cash prize.
Each winner also received a trophy.
There were 120 participants in Duathlon, coming from Cebu, Dumaguete, Guihulngan, Bayawan, Bacolod, Victorias and Bohol, while 60 contestants joined the Amazing Race, hailing from Dumaguete, Bacolod, Victorias, Guihulngan and Cebu.
Councilor Armando Laguda Jr. and president of the Kiwanis Club San Carlos and Councilor Benito Gustilo distributed the trophies, medals and cash prizes to the winners, with City Mayor Renato Gustilo in attendance during the awarding ceremony.*
