After two postponements due to typhoons that struck Negros Occidental in November, the streets of San Carlos City finally witnessed the 33rd PintaFlores Festival street dance competition on December 13.
Six contingents participated in this year’s event. Defending champion contingent No. 5 – Tribu Sumilaw of Don Carlos Ledesma National High School and the clustered barangays of Buluangan, Barangay IV, and Barangay V, was declared grand champion in both the street and ritual showdown competitions.
The group also won several minor awards including Best in Choreography, Best in Street Dancing, Best in Human Flower Formation, and Best in Musicality.
Tribu Valmorados Lupedad from Central Philippine State University and the clustered barangays of Prosperidad, Guadalupe, and Barangay II, was named first runner-up. They also received the minor awards for Best in Floral Catsuit, Best in Floral Face Painting, Best in Video Support, and Best in Costume.



The other runners-up were Tribu Busilak of Quezon National High School and clustered barangays Codcod, Quezon, and Barangay III, second runner-up; Tribu Lumad Sipawaynon of Sipaway National High School and clustered Barangays Ermita, San Juan, and Barangay VI, third runner-up; Tribu Bagnao Uno of Bagonbon National High School and clustered barangays Bagonbon, Punao, and Barangay Uno, fourth runner-up; and Tribu Euzkara of Julio Ledesma National High School and clustered barangays Palampas, Nataban, and Rizal, fifth runner-up.
San Carlos Mayor Renato Gustilo, along with other city officials, presented cash prizes and trophies to the winners during the awarding ceremony at the San Carlos City Auditorium.*
