The VICMICO Planters’ Association, VICMICO Planters’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and VMC Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Negros Occidental, have expressed their full support to the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo.

The sugar planter’s group and cooperatives called Robredo as a “servant leader”.

In a statement, they said that Robredo is not beholden to anyone, or any ideology other than to serve the Filipino”.

The VICMICO Planters” association has about 11,500 members, including their dependents.

“No one forced Leni to serve the people as Vice President, and no one will force her to serve when she becomes President.” the statement said, stressing that Robredo has been serving the marginalized sector for a long time.

Leni’s programs reveal her conviction that there is no better way to show love, to prove love, and to have that love felt, than to serve, it added, further stressing that she had served, even with little or no budget for the Office of the Vice President.

By submitting her certificate of candidacy as an independent candidate, Leni has unapologetically broken from the mold to say that she will be the President of All, the statement also said.

Servant leadership is not easy. It is very hard. But it can be sustained if one decides that this is how life must be lived, for service and fort others, it also said.

Former Negros Occidental Gov. Rafael Coscolluela, a convenor of the Negros For Leni (N4L) movement, enjoined Filipinos all over the country to let Robredo to lead the country.

Together, we can win back our country, our pride and our future, Coscolluela said.

Supporters of Vice President Robredo, who were elated over her announcement that she will run for president, also held a festive caravan from Silay City in the north, and Bago City in the south in Negros Occidental, and converged at the South Capitol Road in Bacolod City, on October 8, in celebration of her decision to join the presidential derby.*
