The Police Regional Office 6 yesterday ordered various provincial and city police offices in Western Visayas to prepare for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days on November 1 and 2, after securing Comelec offices during the eight days filing of certificate of candidacy for the May elections next year.

Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, spokesperson of the Western Visayas police, yesterday said that PRO 6 will base on the guidelines of the local government units on who to allow entry in the different cemeteries all over the region.

Solis said that the PNP is all set to provide and ensure public safety and security and maintain peace and order during the observance of said occasions, in close coordination with the different LGUs and stakeholders.

He added the force multipliers will augment police personnel in securing cemeteries.

Likewise, the PNP will conduct police presence in crowded and frequented areas such as malls, transport terminals, churches, resorts and other strategic areas during the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, Solis added.

He further said that the security coverage includes the enforcement of the prohibited acts/practices in cemeteries such as bringing of firearms, bladed weapons, drinking of alcohol, gambling, loud music and other forbidden activities, as specified in the respective local ordinances related to the observance of the occasions.

Solis also issued an appeal to the general public for cooperation and to strictly adhere to the guidelines set by the Inter Agency Task Force and the LGUs for a safe and secure observance of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day.*
