The City Government of Cadiz hailed the performance of Philippine Normal University – Visayas (PNU-V) for producing two topnotchers in the March 2025 teachers’ exams, according to a press release from Cadiz PIO.
Based on the official results released by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) on May 23, PNU-V ranked number one in the country, with a 100 percent passing rate in the secondary level.
All its 133 examinees passed the exams.
PNU-V tied with three of its sister schools – PNU-Manila, North Luzon, and Mindanao – in the top spot.
The 57-year-old state-run university in Cadiz produced two topnotchers, namely Jacob Facultad and Roxanne Ricaplaza.
Facultad, a San Carlos native ranked fourth with 93.20 percent weighted average while Cadiz lass Ricaplaza got 92.60 percent rating.
Last year, PNU-V also topped the same teachers’ exams with 100 passing passing rate in the elementary level in September, where its alumna, Tessh Balaod, was ranked 8th.
Ralger Jocson, executive director of PNU-V, expressed elation over the results of March teachers’ exams.
He said PNU-V is also true to its commitment to producing quality teachers, adding that from the entrance exam to the interview, PNU-V is strict in choosing qualified applicants for education courses.
“The entrance exam and interview for incoming freshmen are really competitive. We see to it that anyone who will be qualified to enter PNU-V is the best and brightest,” Jocson said.
Besides, the education curriculum at PNU-V is really designed to make every student become teacher-ready, he added.
Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. commended PNU-V for an astonishing performance in the latest Licensure Exams for Professional Teachers (LEPT).
“Being one among the top performing schools across the country, and also having two topnotchers are splendid proof that indeed, Cadiz is really a bastion for quality education,” he said.
Since its founding in Cadiz on July 15, 1968, PNU-V has never failed to amaze Cadizen̈os in producing quality teachers not just for Negros communities, but even for the entire country, Escalante said.
“My salutation, hence, to the men and women behind PNU-V for making every Cadizen̈o proud of your/our institution, serving as a molder or producer of the best teachers,” the mayor added.*
