A town police chief and two others suffered injuries, following a road crash on July 26 in Barangay La Granja, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
Initial police investigations indicated that the La Castellana police patrol vehicle, with P/Capt. Dennis Melgarejo, a noncommissioned police officer, and an arrested drug suspect as the passenger, fell into a canal due to slippery roads.
Melgarejo, officer-in-charge of La Castellana Police Station, suffered head injuries, while his two companions sustained minor injuries.
The vehicular crash took place as the victims were on their way to La Castellana, after subjecting an arrested drug suspect to a drug test in Bacolod City.*
