The police said yesterday that they already have a suspect in the killing of a teacher and her husband on June 17 in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
P/Lt. Abundio Diaz, Sagay City deputy police chief, however, did not elaborate, pending further investigation of the incident.
Melanie Desamparado, 44, a teacher of Molocaboc Integrated School, and her husband, Emerlito, 46, were both shot dead, after being waylaid by an unidentified gunman at the Molocaboc Wharf in Sagay City, the police said.
Both succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot, the police said, adding that an empty shell of a .45 caliber pistol was recovered at the crime scene.
The Department of Education has condemned the senseless killing of the Desamparado couple and called on authorities for a speedy investigation of the incident.
Diaz said they will make a follow-up of the case with the family of the victims, after their burial.*
