The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting Bacolod City Police director, Police Colonel Noel Aliño to increase police visibility in areas most frequented by people at night to ensure a safe, secure and peaceful celebration of Christmas and New Year in Bacolod City.
These areas include the Bacolod Baywalk, the Bacolod Public Plaza, the Bacolod City Government Center grounds, Yoyo Land, and the Provincial Capitol Lagoon.
The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said the Christmas and New Year’s Day holiday seasons are the time of the year that the above-mentioned places are frequented by most people because of the opulent, colorful decorations and abundant bright lights in their respective areas.
Statistics show that where there are many people gathered in an area especially at night time, criminal activities often occur, it said.
To maintain security, peace and order in the aforesaid frequented areas and to ensure the safety of the people visiting the same, police visibility must be increased in the aforesaid areas, the resolution added.*
