A police non-commissioned officer was injured during an armed confrontation with a suspect facing attempted homicide charges at Uriarte Subdivision in Brgy. 3 Poblacion, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, which also yielded guns, explosives and suspected shabu.
The subject of the arrest warrant identified as Archelito Dumip-ig, however managed to escape during the joint operation conducted by the intelligence operatives of the Police Regional Office 6, troopers of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Bacolod City Police Office and La Carlota City Police Station.
Dumip-ig reportedly traded shots with lawmen that resulted in the injury of PCpl. Rommel Blanco who was hit in the right hand. He is now being treated for his injury at a hospital in Bacolod City.
PLt. Abegael Donasco, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said that the joint law enforcement operations yielded an M1 Garand rifle, a .38 caliber revolver, a fragmentation grenade, four rifle grenades, two sachets of suspected shabu, an improvised tooter with shabu residue, and identification cards, among others.
The police also took custody of two women, identified as Malou Camingawan, 41, of Brgy. 14, Bacolod City, and Leny Villarin,23, of Brgy. Bagong Silang, Don Salvador Benedicto, for investigations.
Calatrava Municipal Circuit Trial Court Judge Charmaine Mascardo, who issued the arrest warrant for attempted homicide, has recommended P36,000 bail for Dumip-ig.
Pursuit operations against Dumip-ig are still ongoing as of this time.*
