With the political coalition between United Negros Alliance and Love Negros apparently effective during the 2019 and 2022 elections, Negros Occidental Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer yesterday has renamed it as “Une-Love”.
“There are no party lines anymore,” Ferrer, the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) president, declared.
He and Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson were coalition partners during the 2019 and 2022 elections.
The UNe- LOVE coalition has Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and me as its leaders, Ferrer said. “There is no UNegA and LOVE Negros anymore. Eventually, that is where our paths lead to,” he stressed.
La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio was earlier declared by Lacson, who is affiliated with Love Negros, as the common candidate of UNegA and his political group for the position of president of the Philippines Councilor’s League – Negros Occidental chapter.
Following the announcement of Lacson, incumbent PCL-Negros Occidental president, Silay City Councilor Ryan Gamboa, who sits as an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, said that he will abide the decision.
Ferrer said that there will be a meeting today to discuss the final line up of PCL-Negros Occidental chapter officers.
UNega and Love Negros members earlier elected neophyte Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez as president of Negros Association of Chief Executives.
The League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Negros Occidental chapter is also expected to elect its new set of officers for 2022-2025. Valladolid Mayor Enrique Miravalles is the incumbent LMP-Negros Occidental chapter president.*
