Police probers are looking into the possibility that the ransacking of residential homes of two barangay kagawads in Brgy. 1, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on May 4, may have been related to politics.
Twelve armed suspects, as reported by the Hinigaran police, barged into the respective homes of barangay councilmen Marciano Dizon and Jose Froilan Yap on Wednesday night, looking for “election money”.
Dizon told the Hinigaran police that he was held at gunpoint by the armed men, who were searching for money. After they failed to find it, the suspects took the five cellular phones of Dizon’s family members.
The armed men later proceeded to the house of Yap for the same purpose. They later fled, after also failing to find what they were looking for.
As of this time, the Hinigaran police is still exerting their best effort to identify the armed men and the motive of the incident.*
