The Municipality of Pontevedra successfully distributed about P3 million assistance to 708 individuals severely affected by Typhoon Tino on Tuesday.
The funds include the P2.5 million in financial aid provided by the provincial government of Negros Occidental to the municipal government of Pontevedra.
That amount was part of the P50 million Presidential Assistance Fund allocated by the Office of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the province following the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino on November 4, 2025.
In addition to the P2.5 million from the province, the city government of Davao extended an additional P300,000 for the victims, along with the municipal government’s own counterpart funding.
Despite persistent rainy weather, the distribution activity proceeded smoothly, ensuring support for the affected residents.
The release was led by Municipal Mayor Jose Maria Alonso, Vice Mayor Bing Gilbor, and the city councilors.
“The municipal officials emphasized that this initiative underscores the spirit of solidarity and responsive governance, prioritizing the welfare and recovery of Pontevedra in the aftermath of the storm,” the municipal statement said.
The P50 million aid from the president to the province was divided among the eight most affected local government units due to Typhoon Tino.
Moises Padilla, La Castellana, and La Carlota each received P10 million; Hinigaran, Bago, and Binalbagan each received P5 million; while Isabela and Pontevedra each received P2.5 million.*
