POSO head resignation unrelated to stabbing

BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

Executive assistant retired Police Col. Celestino Guara yesterday said that his resignation as head of the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) had nothing to do with the stabbing incident at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds Sunday that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy.

Guara, former Bacolod City Police director, said that he tendered his resignation as early as May 11 citing his health condition. He has processed his clearances and was also able to claim some of his benefits as executive assistant and head of the POSO.

His resignation takes effect today, he said.

Guara said there are POSO guards assigned around the government center grounds and that the facility is also equipped with CCTV cameras.

Meanwhile, police are preparing to file murder charges against Jorebel Datulayta 21, of Brgy. Alijis who was allegedly responsible for stabbing to death Yeshua John Torres, a Grade 8 student and a resident of Brgy. 41, Bacolod City.

Datulayta is now detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 4.*
