The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod urged the COVID-19 Action Team and the City Health Office thru the City Mayor’s Office to prepare the city’s temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMF) in Alijis and Vista Alegre, amid the increasing cases of COVID-19.
Councilor Em Ang, author of the resolution, said the situational report of the Department of Health showed an increase in the growth rate by 131 percent in the number of COVID-19 cases over the previous two weeks.
Ang said that based from her experience, “We should not wait for COVID cases to surge and get caught unprepared.”
But because of the high vaccination accomplishment of Bacolod, the symptoms are mild and patients only need to be isolated. So, there is no need for them to be hospitalized. They only have to be monitored and isolated to protect the rest of the population, she said.
“We need these temporary treatment and monitoring facilities in case that COVID-19 cases would increase. Because there are some patients that even if their symptoms are very mild, but once they know that they test positive for COVID-19 they want to be admitted in a hospital,” Ang said.
So, they don’t want hospitals in Bacolod to be overburdened and get congested. If that happens there will be shortage of staff and medical supplies like oxygen, she added.
