The entire building of the Negros Press Club at San Juan Street in Bacolod City was temporarily closed starting yesterday until further notice for disinfection after a staff member was exposed to a coronavirus disease (COVID-19) positive patient.

Glazyl Masculino, NPC president, said yesterday that the closure is part of the safety measures to ensure the welfare of the members, clients, and those visiting the club.

The disinfection of the premises will be held during the weekend.

Masculino advised those who have visited the NPC office from July 29 onward to be on home quarantine, pending the release of the result of the swab test of the concerned staff member.

“We urge our media colleagues to be cautious and responsible in dealing with the current situation because there is already confirmed local transmission,” Masculino said.

The safety of media practitioners and of their families are important, considering their vital role in the delivery of information to the public about the ongoing pandemic, she added.*
