Primelectric Holdings Inc., which signed a Joint Venture Agreement with the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) which claims to improve the services and delivery of electricity within its franchise area, also backed the decision of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) to suspend the plebiscite for 60 days.

In a statement, Primelectric President Roel Castro said they will abide by the recent NEA decision on the request of the six mayors within CENECO franchise area, in order to cleanse the voter’s list.

In compliance with the NEA issued memorandum, CENECO suspended the JVA plebiscite scheduled on July 8 and 9.

While the June 24 and 25 plebiscite pushed through, the July 1 and 2 schedules were cancelled.

We support this step towards ensuring a more reliable and trustworthy outcome for the plebiscite, Castro said.

He also stressed that the cleansing process will undoubtedly contribute to a more credible result that reflects the will of CENECO’s member-consumers.

As requested, NEA is slated to verify and confirm the accuracy of plebiscite’s voters list, secure any and all systems, protocols, and/or procedures used to carry out the plebiscite, and ensure conformity with the verified and confirmed voter list.*
