A public school principal died on July 31 at a private hospital in Bacolod City, three days after he fell off the roof of a school building in Barangay Guinpana-an, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
The death of Reynaldo Mojares, a principal of Guinpana-an Elementary School in Moises Padilla, at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City, where he had been undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit since Sunday, was confirmed by his former student, Moises Padilla Vice Mayor Ian Villaflor.
Mojares, who had been serving as principal of the school, was reported to be in critical condition after falling from the roof of an elementary school building that he had been clearing of leaves, on July 28, a day before the school was scheduled to open.
Mojares slipped while climbing a ladder to remove the leaves, as there was no one holding the ladder to make it stable.
As a result, he suffered head injuries, according to Ian Arnold Arnaiz, spokesman of the Department of Education – Division of Negros Occidental.
Mojares is already nearing retirement, Arnaiz added.
When informed of the incident, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he will check on the assistance the provincial government can extend to the principal’s family.*
