The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) led by Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay honored the police officer who was stabbed in the eye during a hot pursuit operation conducted at Barangay Milagrosa, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental, on September 3.

A ‘Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting’ was conferred to Police Executive Master Sargent Niño Noynay to recognize his bravery and dedication in law enforcement.

The awarding was carried out in accordance with Sections 14(m) and 69 of RA 6975, which authorizes the conferment of incentives and honors to Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel who demonstrate exceptional courage in the line of duty.

“His courage brings pride to himself, his family, and the entire police organization, serving as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve and protect the community,” PRO NIR spokesperson Police Lt. Col. Joem Malong said.

Moreover, the regional office also honored other outstanding police officers who attained exemplary achievements in ensuring a safer community during the flag ceremony at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City yesterday.

PLt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca and PCpl. Benjie Buatag of Silay PNP were recognized with the ‘Medalya ng Kadakilaan’ award for a successful anti-drug operation conducted at Purok Mapisanon, Brgy. Lantad, Silay City, which led to the arrest of a drug personality and the seizure of approximately 109.115 grams of suspected shabu, with a standard drug price of P700,982.

The personnel of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) who received the ‘Medalya ng Kagalingan’ were PCapt. Rasalino Pugoy Jr. and PSSg. Serge Ballesteros, who was recognized for a successful manhunt operation they spearheaded in Brgy. Taculing that led to the arrest of NIR’s 9th most wanted person, who was accused of acts of lasciviousness in violation of RA 7610.*
