The Police Regional Office in Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) augmented a total of 150 police personnel to Cebu City, who will be on duty on January 15 to 18 for the celebration of the Sinulog Festival 2026.
During the sendoff ceremony held yesterday, security operations in Cebu includes 100 personnel from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) and 50 personnel from Siquijor Police Provincial Office (SPPO) in support of intensified security measures for the event.
The ceremony was held to honor the dedication and readiness of the troops who will augment security forces in ensuring the peaceful, orderly, and successful conduct of one of the country’s largest religious and cultural celebrations.
The troops were reminded to remain vigilant, proactive, and responsive in addressing security concerns, crowd management, and emergency situations throughout the festivities.
Negros Island Police assured the public that while personnel are deployed to support Sinulog Festival 2026 operations, security coverage across the region remains robust and uninterrupted.
“The send-off further underscored the strong coordination and seamless interoperability between PRO NIR and the host police units, exemplifying the Philippine National Police’s unified, whole-of-organization approach to public safety,” PRO-NIR said in a statement.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez earlier said that over 6,500 police officers and emergency response personnel were deployed to ensure the peace and order of the 461st Fiesta Señor and Sinulog Festival 2026 in Cebu City.*
