The Police Regional Office in Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) continues to augment police forces in festival areas, having deployed 300 officers to Iloilo City to ensure peace and order during the celebration of Dinagyang Festival.
Led by Director PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR held a send-off ceremony yesterday at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr., Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City, signifying close coordination with Police Regional Office 6.
A total of 300 police personnel will be deployed to bolster security operations, including 3 personnel from the Regional Headquarters, 63 from Bacolod City Police Office, 69 from Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, 65 from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and 100 newly graduated personnel to be assigned to PRO-NIR.
The deployed forces will be on duty from January 22 to 26, supporting intensified security measures for the highlights of Dinagyang Festival.
A total of 150 police personnel were also recently sent to Cebu City from January 15 to 18, to support the Sinulog Festival. Augmenting forces in Cebu include 100 personnel from Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) and 50 from Siquijor Police Provincial Office (SPPO).
In a statement, Ibay emphasized that the augmentation aims not only to strengthen security but also to express PRO-NIR’s sincere gratitude to neighboring regional offices, reciprocating the support that PRO-6 extended during the MassKara Festival.
He reminded the deployed personnel to prioritize their personal safety while performing their duties and to ensure the safety and security of the celebration.
PRO-NIR assured the public that the deployment of personnel for Dinagyang Festival 2026 security operations will not compromise or diminish security coverage across the Negros Island Region.*
