PRO-NIR sends aid to Cebu earthquake victims

• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region’s initiative dubbed OPLAN TAWID (Tendering Assistance with Integrity and Dedication) Program sent additional aid to the victims of Bogo City, Cebu, who were displaced due to the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck in the area on September 30.

The regional police office collected a total of 3,501 kilograms, or around 70 sacks of rice, along with 48 boxes of assorted goods and essential items, which were donated by the uniformed personnel and other private partners.

The collected relief goods were delivered to the victims after the send-off ceremony yesterday, held at Kanlaon Hall, Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr., Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.

The initiative is part of the police’s humanitarian efforts to provide immediate support and relief to families affected by natural disasters, ensuring that help reaches communities in their time of need.

In his message, Regional Director PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay underscored that the act of giving serves as a reminder that the duty of police officers to help communities in need is not confined by geographical boundaries.

“This symbolized the assistance meant to help affected families overcome the hardships brought by the natural disaster,” he said.

He further stressed that their obligation transcends seas and regions, and during times like these, members of the police force must go beyond the call of duty to extend compassion and service to those who need it most.*
