The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) gears up for the yearly summer vacation to ensure the safety and security of tourists and the general public in Western Visayas.
During this season, an influx of tourists both local and foreign are expected in terminals, piers, malls, markets, resorts, with traffic congestion in major thoroughfares highly probable.
Moreover, lawless elements might take the opportunity to launch their nefarious plans to hit their would-be victims, according to regional police spokesperson Lt. Col. Arnel Solis.
To ensure the security and safety of the public and tourists, Solis said that the local police will conduct regular visits of tourist sites, and deploy personnel for police visibility in identified areas to thwart any evil plans of criminals.
Additionally, there will be random and surprise checkpoints and established police assistance hubs in strategic areas where the public can easily seek assistance in cases of emergency or other concerns, he added.
Solis further said that police units were also reminded to strictly implement the health protocols considering that the COVID-19 threat is still present.*
