Bacolod City Councilor Em Ang, who chairs the Committee on Health, is set to file a resolution requesting a formal report from the City Health Office (CHO) regarding the reports of a defective X-ray machine and expired X-ray films.
Also included in the investigation is the supply of anti-rabies vaccine at the CHO.
The councilor stated the importance of the X-ray as a diagnostic tool at the CHO, especially with the local government’s programs against tuberculosis and for residents who cannot afford consultations at private clinics.
Ang added that part of her objective is to determine local legislations the Sangguniang Panlungsod can enact to further improve the health services of the CHO.
Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya, who formed the inventory team that started work two weeks ago, stated that he asked the department head to look into it.
“We will come up with urgent measures as we have an X-ray machine,” Gasataya said.
The mayor added that they are also verifying information that the city bought an X-ray machine last December 2024 that cost approximately P13-P14 million.
He stated that they are tracking the paper trail to know if it was already delivered to the city.*
