About 41,000 Sagaynon students are expected to benefit in the 5th year of “Project Lapis kag Papel” that kicked off at the Eusebio Lopez Memorial Integrated School covered court, Tuesday.
The city government allocated a budget of P6.4 million for this project, to extend help to at least 40,575 students from kinder to Grade 12 and 600 Alternative Learning System (ALS) students.
The project started during the administration of former Mayor and now Congressman Alfredo Marañon, III, in 2018, in partnership with the Department of Education-Sagay City Division.
Mayor Narciso “Narwin” Javelosa Jr. said that this is a continuing project of the city government to encourage school children to make good with their studies.
Project Lapis kag Papel, a school supplies distribution program in the city, is part of the programs initiated under the education thrust of the Javelosa administration.
Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva also said he is happy that this program continues as it helps strengthen the foundation of our schools to provide quality education to Sagaynon learners.
He also thanked the stakeholders that gave their all-out support to the education programs of the city and he believes that with their commitment, educating the students will continue to improve within the city.*
