Province always ready to assist migrant workers

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson assured Negrense migrant workers that the provincial government is always ready anytime to help them amid challenges they are facing abroad and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

Lacson, who spoke at the celebration of International Migrants Day on December 27 at the Provincial Social Hall Capitol in Bacolod City, said that the ongoing pandemic has been particularly difficult for migrant workers all over the world.

“The call is not just for global solidarity in handling the difficulties and complications faced by migrant workers, but also for the much-needed reforms anchored on the new normal, he said.

The celebration with the theme “Harnessing the Potential of Human Mobility,” was spearheaded by the Provincial Committee on Migration and Development.

Present in the activity were OWWA OIC Regional Director Rizza Joy Moldes, Marie June Castro, Executive Assistant to the Governor, Ellene Sana, Executive Director of the Center for Migrant Advocacy, and Salvacion Barrios, president of OFW Negros Occ. Federation, Inc., among others.*
