Province eyes more E911 command posts

• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is set to construct additional Emergency 911 (E911) Command Posts and logistics hubs across the six districts of the province “for coordinated inter-agency operations.”

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said in an interview that the initiative is aimed at preparing efficient services to affected communities. This was also in response to the several disasters that hit the province, affecting hundreds of thousands of Negrense.

The Panaad command post building is 100 percent complete and ready for inauguration, and will serve as a model for the upcoming hubs.

“We have completed our post in Panaad, and that would be our model that we would like to replicate in the six districts of Negros Occidental,” the governor stressed.

The E911 system serves as the government’s central emergency hotline for all types of emergencies, including police, fire, medical, or other emergency rescue services. As a whole-of-government approach, it integrates national agencies and local units into one coordinated platform.

REGIONAL OFFICES IN BACOLOD

Lacson further said that the Negros Island Region (NIR) Regional Offices will be set up at the Cyber Center and Paglaum Sports Complex in the first quarter of 2026, strengthening regional coordination and service delivery.

The center will house regional and national department offices to efficiently and conveniently cater to the needs of Negrenses.

“We aim that it will be fully operationalized. They will be there temporarily,” Lacson said, adding that “We will house those government agencies who have requested. I think there will be enough for what is necessary.”*
