
The Philippine Statistics Authority – Negros Occidental successfully conducted the 35th Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Quiz Bee for OJT students at the PSA Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office (PSO).
The event saw the participation of 19 on-the-job training (OJT) students from various schools in cities and municipalities.
As the newest edition of PSA’s quiz bee, the contest aims to promote awareness and understanding of civil registration and vital statistics among college students serving as OJTs.
Participants competed for two rounds, with each round composed of ten questions relating to CRVS processes and principles.
Claire Mae Dizon, representative of the Carlos Hilado Memorial State University – Fortune Towne emerged as champion, Eurica Abellar from Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod placed second, while Mikhail Molboc from the University of Saint La Salle – Bacolod finished third.
All the participants displayed thorough knowledge, and were given tokens and certificates of participation.
John Campomanes, interim regional director, and Diesah Biaoco, supervising statistical specialist, acknowledged the contestants’ active participation.
They expressed hope that the OJT category of the quiz bee, on its maiden running, would be held annually as it nurtures interest in CRVS and fosters a culture of data literacy and awareness.
Jalaica Quirante was also acknowledged for organizing the event and serving as quiz master.*
