PSO tourneys rescheduled

Following cancellations due to typhoon “Paeng” last weekend, the Provincial Sports Office (PSO) announced rescheduled matches for this week.

The schedule of events includes the District Festival 3X3 Basketball Tournament, the Governor’s Cup Football Provincial Championship, the Governor’s Cup Provincial Boxing Tournament, and the Abanse Negrense Softball Tournament. 

The District Festival 3X3 Basketball Tournament District V and VI Eliminations will proceed in the municipalities of Hinigaran and Hinoba-an on November 5. The games will simultaneously take place at 1 pm.

Participating LGUs in the fifth district are La Castellana, Hinigaran, Himamaylan City, and Binalbagan. The sixth district, on the other hand, includes the municipalities of Hinoba-an and Candoni, and the cities of Sipalay and Kabankalan.

The Governor’s Cup Football Provincial Championship Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals are rescheduled for Nov. 5 and 6. Competitions begin at 8am at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium.

San Carlos City, Dolphins FC, Pontevedra, Sagay City, Trinity Christian School FC, Victorias City, Cadiz City, and Bago City are the competing teams for the Born 2010 (12-under) category. For the Born 2005 (17-under) category, the participating teams include San Carlos City, Pontevedra, Bago City, Sagay City, Cadiz City, STI-WNU, USLS-IS, and the CHFC.

Furthermore, the Abanse Negrense Softball Tournament will finally push through with its opening ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 6. Games will start at 8 am in Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia.

The participating teams will compete in three major categories – majors (12-under or ages 11-12), juniors (14-under or ages 13-14), and seniors. The teams include Escalante City, La Carlota City, Bacolod City (ETCS, BCNHS, and NOHS), Silay City, Talisay City, and Murcia.

Meanwhile, the Governor’s Cup Provincial Boxing Tournament is set to commence Nov. 6 in Don Salvador Benedicto at 1 pm. The tournament will start with an opening ceremony followed by the elimination bouts.

According to the PSO press release, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and PSO head Anthony Carlo Agustin believe in the importance of fundamentally promoting grassroots development programs as an effective mechanism to contribute to sustainable sports initiatives.*
