The Provincial Veterinary Office is boosting the buffalo stock of the province for a larger volume of milk production.

This week, the PVO distributed 20 bucks, worth P24,999, to raisers and 25 dairy carabaos, worth 39,999, to farmers and irrigators’ associations from districts 1 to 6.

Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said the carabao distribution aims to improve the stocks of the province, which will have the capacity to produce larger volume of milk.

This is also for the raisers’ farming activities which can help reduce production cost and increase income, he added.

“It will also serve as an additional source of livelihood for the recipients through the utilization of buffalo milk, either to be marketed as fresh or processed, depending on the existing local demand,” he said.

Decena said the strong collaboration of the City Agriculturist Office of San Carlos and the PVO District I Field Unit will guarantee the sustainable implementation of veterinary programs and projects that will create livelihood and boost the income of animal raisers.

Meanwhile, the PVO also distributed 400 chickens at the Farmers Agricultural Services and Trading Center in Barangay Robles, La Castellana early this week.*
