Authorities have identified a minor as the mother of the abandoned infant found at Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City, on Saturday night.
Bacolod Department of Social Services and Development head Richelle Verdeprado-Mangga said that they will ensure the necessary steps for the best interest of the child.
Report said the mother is a 16-year-old and a person with disability, originally from Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
The teenager, who was staying as a guest at her aunt’s house, reportedly reached out to disclose her situation.
She confessed that she had hidden her pregnancy from her relatives out of extreme fear, leading her to give birth alone and leave the infant at the site that same evening.
The baby boy is currently confined in a hospital where he is receiving medical treatment.*
