The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is urging the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office, through the office of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, to prepare programs and activities in celebration of the 45th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week on July 17 to 23, and enjoining all agencies to extend support and participation.
The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said Proclamation No. 1870 was issued last June 22, 1979, declaring the third week of July of each year as the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week.
The 45th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week will be celebrated on July 17 to 23 of this year with the theme: “Persons with Disabilities Accessibility and Rights: Towards a Sustainable Future where No One is Left Behind,” the resolution said.
The Bacolod City Government needs to stimulate public awareness on the problems of disability, promote disability rights and encourage every Bacolodnon to take active responsibility in the uplifting of the economic and social conditions of the Persons with Disabilities of our society, it said.
The support and participation of all government agencies in the territorial jurisdiction of Bacolod City is essential to the success of the programs and activities undertaken by the City Government of Bacolod through the Persons with Disability Affairs Office, the resolution added.*
