The Provincial Environment Management Office has been urged to immediately take action on the alleged road closure at a quarry site, claimed to be on private property in Barangay Camang-Camang, Isabela, Negros Occidental.
Danilo Delgado Jr., an employee of St. Ignatius Sand and Gravel, reported to the Isabela Police Station that four dump trucks owned by his employer were not able to enter the quarry site of Mary Rose Frances Uy, as the road was blocked with an improvised fence made of barbed wire, as instructed by the respondents he identified as Rolly Lava, Monina Villa, Jessery Pornales, Artem dela Torre, Jero Remias, and a certain Mentok.
The quarry site is located within the boundary of barangays Mansablay and Camang-Camang in Isabela.
Mansablay barangay chairman Aurelio Tolero Jr. yesterday called on the PEMO to hasten the resolution of the property dispute, as he expressed concerns that it may affect the peace and order in the area.
Tolero said he was told by PEMO that the case was already forwarded to its legal office for appropriate action.
Delgado said his employer vowed to continue operating the quarry site, as they have permits issued by PEMO.
“It is also the PEMO, who can issue an order for them to stop”, he added.
Delgado further claimed that Lava and Villa also engaged in quarry operations in the same area.
As of yesterday, Delgado said they have yet to retrieve the heavy equipment of his employer from the area.
Tolero said he got information that the road in question is located within private property.*
