A workshop on rabbit raising for Talisaynon farmers was conducted on November 25 by Joevil Doren, owner of Hops Grill and president of United Negros Island Rabbit Meat Producers (UNI-RaMP), a press release from Talisay PIO said.
The initiative focused on providing sustainable and unconventional alternative livelihoods for local farmers by promoting rabbit meat as a growing and economically viable industry.
Doren shared his expertise in rabbit farming, emphasizing the difference between raising rabbits for meat production and keeping them as house pets. He explained that commercial rabbits require specific techniques. Unlike pets, meat rabbits are bred for efficiency and sustainability to enhance food security.
The workshop demonstrated Talisay City’s commitment to supporting local farmers in diversifying their income sources under the ASENSO Development Framework.*
