Armando Sumayang Jr. Command-New People’s Army of Southwest Negros Guerrilla Front has claimed the death of Alberto Jimenez, a livestock buyer who was gunned down by two rebels while fixing his motorcycle on Sunday, December 13, in Sitio Makilo, Barangay Camansi.
Rebels said in a statement that Jimenez was an intelligence asset of the Philippine Army. He was accused of being the asset behind the deaths of Ericson Acosta and of his brother, Joseph Jimenez, both members of the rebel group, on November 30, 2022.
Jimenez, who was 54 years old, received several death threats from the rebels prior to his killing, police confirmed.
The victim succumbed to gunshot injuries at the scene, while the suspects reportedly fled immediately after the attack.
A .45 caliber bullet shell was recovered from the scene, which is believed to be from the weapon used in the crime.
The victim’s body will undergo a post-mortem examination, and authorities have strengthened their forces, especially as the Christmas season is about to begin.*
