The killing spree of New People’s Army remnants appears to have further intensified, as they claimed death of a senior citizen in Toboso on July 1, and the summary execution of an alleged military informant on June 24 in Himamaylan City, all in Negros Occidental.
The victim of a shooting incident on July 1 at Crossing Bairan in Barangay General Luna, Toboso, was identified only by the police as alias Enrique, 64, a tricycle-driver and resident of the place.
Initial investigations of the Toboso police indicated that three unidentified armed men barged into the residence of the victim and shot him several times, without any reason. He died on the spot.
Recovered from the scene of the incident were 9 fired 9mm cartridges.
The execution of alias Enrique inside his house, was allegedly carried out by rebel remnants.
Meanwhile, the Romeo Nanta Command of NPA claimed responsibility for the killing of Jesmer Pacunla on June 24 in Sitio Casipongan, Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City.
Pacunla was accused by the rebels of serving as an intelligence asset for the Philippine Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion.
The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command (RJSC) had earlier claimed responsibility for the deaths of Elias Palay, whom they tagged as a military informant, and Putot Alsado, who they alleged was involved in illegal activities, on June 22, in Brgy. Bug-ang, Toboso.*
