Rebels deny Himamaylan casualties

BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The New People’s Army Mount Cansermon Command -South Central Negros Front (MCC-NPA) yesterday debunked reports that it suffered casualties in two encounters with 94th Infantry Battalion soldiers on October 6 in Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

This was also in contrary to reports and photos posted on social media, showing two alleged Red fighters with high-powered firearms who reportedly died in the Himamaylan gun battle.

In a statement, the rebel group clarified that none of the NPA fighters had been injured and killed, and they were able to withdraw safely.

The MCC-NPA also dismissed the encounter yesterday as “fake news.”

It further claimed that those “rebels” presented by the Philippine Army to the local government unit of Himamaylan City, who availed of P10,000 financial assistance and P5,000 educational assistance are fake.*
