The New People’s Army Leonardo Panaligan Command issued a statement claiming responsibility for killing CAFGU member Sunnyboy Teves on December 27 in Sitio Tulingon, Brgy. Binobohan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
In a statement, rebel spokesman Ka JB Regalado accused Teves, who entered into military service as a CAFGU member in 2011, as a very active military informant of the 62nd Infantry Battalion.
Regalado said they confiscated a cellular phone from Teves, which contained valuable information.
He clarified that not all CAFGU members are targets of the NPA for liquidation, as long as they are not involved in counter-revolutionary activities.*
