The New People’s Army Mt. Cansermon Command also claimed responsibility for the killing of a civilian they accused as a military asset of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on February 13 in Sitio Nursery, Brgy. Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

Ka Dionesio Magbuelas, spokesperson of the Mt. Cansermon Command, in a statement he issued, said that Bertito Roso was meted with a death penalty, as he had been warned of serving as a military informant.

This will serve as a warning to all informants that they should stop their counter-revolutionary activities, Magbuelas said.

The killing of Roso Jr. prompted the Binalbagan police to conduct an investigation. While on their way to the site, they were ambushed by NPA rebels.

The ambush of Binalbagan policemen was also claimed by the same NPA unit earlier.

Magbuelas also claimed that the stray bullet that a hit a minor during the ambush did not came from them.*
