Rebels own killing former councilor

The New People’s Army have claimed responsibility for the killing of a former town councilor in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

In a statement, the Romeo Nanta Command- NPA South Central Negros Guerilla Front, said they successfully carried out the imposition of the death penalty on Rodulfo Fajardo, 72, whom they accused of committing crimes against the people.

Fajardo, alias Dulpo, a former councilor of Isabela town in Negros Occidental, succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries.

As a former detachment commander stationed in Brgy. Cansolongon, Isabela, Ka Dionesio Magbuelas alleged that the victim was among the key organizers of Alsa Masa, an anti-revolutionary group, in the area.

Fajardo was driving a Honda XRM125 motorcycle, traveling from Sitio Manuleta towards Sitio JMA in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan when he was waylaid and gunned down by four men, who fled on two motorcycles, according to the police.*
