This is my third escape to Punta Bulata Resort & Spa in the past month! Whenever I feel the urge to just free myself from all the cares and woes that this global pandemic has imposed on my lifestyle, I run to this paradise on earth.

Protected from both Amihan and Habagat winds due to its cove’s position, this is the place to enjoy perfect weather, cool breeze, good food, and all the comforts one needs to hibernate and be at once disengaged with life’s harsh realities. Not that I’m complaining about being stuck in the Philippines for more than a year. We are truly blessed to be here in the island of Negros where people are kind, our ports of entry from elsewhere are under strict supervision, and people go out of their way to help one another.

I brought along my houseguest Jing Ramos, a lifestyle editor of several publications in Cebu and influencer, to share the joys of romping on the beach that stretches for a good kilometer, giving us more than enough leeway to social distance ourselves from the exclusive guest list that frequent Punta Bulata. There was a foreign couple, who we rarely saw except for late breakfast at the Veranda, the resort’s multi-awarded resto that has a wide array of specialties ranging from crunchy Bruschetta to pizzas galore and my fav Squid Sisig. I usually order a grilled fish once a day because I like to taste the sea in my mouth or in-between meals, gulp a small espresso cup of hot tsokolate accompanied by buttered pan de sal sprinkled with just the right amount of crystal sugar. Jing preferred his accompaniment to the heartwarming beverage after a dip in the ocean to be our suman, which I discovered to be decadently addictive.

Bringing fresh blood to the luxe resort is hardworking beautiful couple Tomas Zayco and wifey Martina Quirino. They are now building their home in the grounds of Punta Bulata, the best way to make sure everything runs smoothly and guests are well-attended to 24/7. I think it’s a dream job running a beautiful resort nowadays, what with all this Kung Flu and variants that are now popping up everywhere. It’s definitely a new millennial career that should be on the forefront for today’s young families starting on their own. Well, dahlinks, I shall leave you to your imagination and daydreams as I hope you enjoy my photo souvenirs of this latest sojourn to this earthly paradise. I’m still luxuriating from those four days of sea bliss!
