The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) arrested the region’s tenth most wanted person for a drug case, during a manhunt operation in Montinola Street, Barangay 4, Victorias City, Negros Occidental on November 21.
The operation carried out by Victorias PNP resulted in the arrest of alias “Winkle”, 32-years-old, a jobless male and a resident of Zone 6, Bangga Daan, Barangay 1 of the city.
Police said that the accused was arrested for violation of Article II, Section 5, Paragraph 1 of RA 9165.
Based on the suspect’s background, he had previously been the subject of a buy-bust operation but managed to evade arrest during its implementation. Following his escape, operatives filed the appropriate charges against him, leading to the issuance of a warrant that ultimately resulted in his capture.
“With coordinated action, swift response, and unwavering determination, PRO NIR continues to prove that offenders involved in criminal activities and the drug trade will be relentlessly pursued and brought before the law,” PRO-NIR said in a statement, citing that “each operation showed their commitment to suppress illegal drug activities.”
Upon apprehension, the accused was informed of his constitutional rights and is currently under the custody of the Victorias CCPS for proper legal disposition.*
