In an effort to bring fugitives into justice, the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) successfully arrested the region’s Top 1 and Top 8 most wanted personalities for rape cases in a separate operations on Tuesday.
The first manhunt operation was conducted at Purok Paglaum, Barangay Makiling, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, which led to the arrest of the region’s most wanted individual alias ‘Mar,’ 63, a resident of Valladolid town.
Alias ‘Mar’ was accused of 17 counts of statutory rape under RA8353 and 23 counts of acts of lasciviousness under RA7610.
The accused is alleged to have subjected his minor victim to sexual assault and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
The second operation, carried out by the Sagay Component City Police Station at Purok Paghidait, Barangay Baviera, led to the apprehension of the region’s 8th most wanted for statutory and qualified rape.
Arrested was alias ‘Poloy,’ 22 years old, a roll up installer, and a resident of Purok Sherman Hill, Barangay Baviera, Sagay City.
The suspect was arrested for the crime of statutory rape and rape under RA11648 after he, together with his three companions, allegedly took turns sexually assaulting a minor victim after a drinking session.
With the victory against criminality, PRO-NIR said in a statement that it reflects the dedication, skill, and coordination of our personnel in bringing high-value targets to justice and reinforcing public safety across the region and urging for public cooperation.
“We urge the community to remain proactive partners in this mission by reporting suspicious activities and information on wanted individuals,” it said.
Both accused are now under the custody of the police for proper legal disposition.*
