More than three months after the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino in Negros Occidental, the skeletal remains of one of its 8-year-old victims were discovered on Tuesday at Hacienda Alicia, Barangay 5, Isabela.
The victim was identified as an 8-year-old female Grade 3 student and a resident of Hacienda Cristita, Barangay Bulad, in the same town. Her remains were positively identified by her immediate family.
Police reported that a sugarcane worker found the remains while harvesting sugarcane in the plantation.
Upon the arrival of authorities, the human skeletal remains were found scattered in the middle of the sugarcane field. An ocular inspection of the area was conducted.
According to the family, on November 4, 2025, during the onslaught of Typhoon Tino, the victim was swept away by a sudden flash flood and was not recovered during the search, rescue, and retrieval operations.
MOISES PADILLA FLASH FLOOD
Following the search and rescue operation launched by authorities in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, the remains of the 33-year-old missing person swept away by flash floods caused by the shearline in Purok Sab-a, Barangay Montilla, was recovered yesterday.
Investigation revealed that the victim was crossing the Binalbagan River when he was swept away by strong floodwaters and went missing.*
